PlantScanner.ai is a free, browser-based tool for people who love plants but do not always know what they are looking at. Upload a photo and our AI identifies the plant, assesses its health, and gives you care instructions tailored to that species -- no app download, no account, no cost.

How the identification works

When you upload a photo, a vision-capable AI model analyzes the image -- leaf shape, venation, growth habit, flowers, and other visual features -- and matches it against its knowledge of plant species. You get back the most likely identification with a confidence score, plus a health assessment that flags visible issues like pest damage, nutrient deficiencies, or watering problems. The Plant Doctor uses the same approach to diagnose what is wrong with a sick plant and suggest treatment steps.

Honest limitations

No identification tool -- AI or human -- is right 100% of the time. Accuracy is highest with clear, well-lit photos of common houseplants and garden plants, and lower for rare species, immature plants, and blurry photos. That is why every result includes a confidence score. Two important cautions: never eat a plant or fungus based on an AI identification, and if a pet has chewed a plant, use our identification as information for your veterinarian rather than a substitute for one. The care library

Alongside the scanner, we maintain a growing library of plant care guides and problem-solving guides written for real-world indoor conditions -- practical watering intervals, realistic light expectations, and troubleshooting that starts from the symptom you can actually see.
